Madison Jones Crowned Miss Tremont

After missing last year’s contest due to COVID, the Miss Tremont Pageant was able to happen on June 6th. In order to compete for the title, one must be a female, junior or senior in high school, and a Tremont resident. Madison Jones was crowned Miss Tremont for 2021. She is going into her senior year at Tremont High School. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to conduct an interview with her, where we discussed all aspects of the pageant.

First, Miss Jones explained how the pageant occurs. “We sign up and start early with rehearsals, but unfortunately this year with COVID we started 2 months late. We have practices once every week to work on the opening number, our casual wear, what we want the people and judges to know about us, and essentially train us for how to become a queen.” Jones stated that it was an amazing experience, where the practices were always fun and lighthearted.

After learning the basics of the pageant, we transitioned into why Jones chose to compete in the Miss Tremont pageant. “I have always wanted to compete in the Miss Tremont pageant. My mom has done the makeup for the pageant for over 20 years, so for every year since I could remember I was backstage watching everything happen behind the scenes.” Her sister also competed in the pageant, and although she didn’t win, Jones has “wanted to fill the shoes” of her older sister.

Outside of her family, Jones also found a strong support system for the pageant from family friends. “I had an amazing support system going into this pageant. I’m really close family friends with one of the contestants, KaitLynne Nickles, so her whole family was there as well as mine. The committee also was a huge support system for all four of us, always telling us that they believed in us and that they loved us.” Lastly, Jones stated that her favorite part of the pageant was the evening gown competition. Jones explained that the evening gown was her favorite “because you get to stand up on stage and look pretty and it’s the very last thing you do, no more talent, no more speech to give. It was a relieving part of the pageant, and you get to show your beauty on stage.”

Congratulations to Madison Jones on being crowned the 2021 Miss Tremont!
