RAVING REVIEW: Holy nostalgia, Batman! I wasn’t prepared for this core memory to be unlocked, but I’m so glad it was! Family fun early 90s thrill ride!

So let’s get this out of the way; I was 12 when this first came out, and it hit every possible button a 12-year-old in 1993 could hope for! You had cool toys, a fun HOME ALONE style story, the girl you liked from class, and more.

So truth be told, when I requested this review copy, I had forgotten I had ever seen this one. However, a flood of joy came over me from the moment Chris Carrara and that unmistakable haircut came on screen.

This isn’t an Oscar winner by any stretch of the imagination, but if you were a kid in the early 90s, I promise this would be right up your alley. Many of the films I watched as a kid are laughably bad upon rewatching them today (I’m looking at you, GARBAGE PAIL KIDS.) This one overcame that fate by using a tried and true formula. You have to be able to look past the 90s references, but once you’re over that hill, it’s genuine fun.

This copy also looked incredible; being remastered from the original 35mm negative, it felt like it was made for a modern audience. I can only imagine watching this on my 13-inch CRT TV all those years ago. I probably thought that was the best quality I would see in my lifetime.

Shockingly, this story aged pretty well outside the dated clothes, hair, and tech, and I wouldn’t think twice before showing this to kids almost 30 years later. While some may have a hard time overcoming certain things, if they enjoy other films from the 80s/90s, then this would be a fantastic addition to show them.
