A sobering reminder of the depths of the internet, the film starts spectacularly. I loved the look and feel of it. Almost a throwback to the early 2000s, reminiscent of the unknown and unchecked depths of even the early primitive days of being online. A massive shoutout to Anna Cobb (Casey), who made her premiere in the film. Throughout the film, she played her role perfectly; while she was acting, she had a realism to her character that I couldn’t quite explain.<\/p>\n

I enjoyed the “amateur” webcam feel to the film, which added to the ambiance and made for a more profound and eerie feel. I do feel like the film started to lose a bit of steam after the main introduction of the “World’s Fair Challenge” and Casey’s initiation.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite parts of film festivals is that you never know what you’re going to get from a film that has been entered, let alone a winner. Independent film is one of the best artistic mediums there are. The limits are almost endless; with a painting, you generally know what you will get with a finished piece; it can be nearly anything with film. Even genres can cross over from one thing to another. There are adult animations and children's; you can make a story as authentic as possible or pull it straight from your imagination.<\/p>\n

I saw some mixed reviews online that I believe may have been because the reviewer expected one thing and got another. I’ve been in that exact boat before; the most recent example I can think of was with the film X. I had these ideas in my head of what it would be. Unfortunately, once I got into it, I was let down big time. I saw some mixed reviews that I believe may have been because the reviewer expected one thing and got another. I try to go into most films I’m reviewing as blind as possible. I don’t watch trailers; I don’t read up on them, etc. I like the experience to be as new as possible while watching it.<\/p>\n

If you want to watch a unique film that experiments with filmmaking, I would recommend this, as you can see that the sky is the limit. You’ll see that every review I do is done with an open mind; even if I didn’t enjoy the film, I still try to find silver linings. I feel like that’s important because too often, people will pan a movie they don’t like or understand, which doesn’t do a favor for anyone.<\/p>\n
