Honestly, I didn\u2019t know what I was in for when requesting this film. With a title like SMUT WITHOUT SMUT, the possibilities are endless. First and foremost, I will say that these aren\u2019t family films; if you order this with that assumption, that\u2019s on you.<\/p>\n

This was one of the most unique viewing experiences I\u2019ve had and was brilliant in its simplicity. In a nutshell, you get two \u201cadult\u201d films, and you get to be the director. You get to decide how you want to watch it \u201cwith or without\u201d smut. I will admit even the \u201cwithout\u201d version had some adult content; it\u2019s hard to entirely edit that out of a movie created with it.<\/p>\n

This is the website’s description, and I think it says it better than I ever could \u201cBeneath the dumpsters of America, a netherworld of \u201cadults only\u201d genre movies lurks in the gutters. But what if these movies were less about the smut and more about everything else? \u201cSmut Without Smut\u201d is X-rated genre movies with the X-rated bits removed. In other words, your perception of reality will never be the same again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both films are new 2k scans from the only 35mm prints known to exist, and while they are rough around the edges, that also adds to the film-watching experience. These are not direct to VHS films; they had production value (although limited in the mid-70s) and had a storyline, even after removing the \u201csmut.\u201d I watched Things to Come, both with and without, and it was incredible how the story changed. How it was still the same film, but your experience was completely different.<\/p>\n
