Elmer S. McBeath

Elmer S. McBeath, 92, of Tremont, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at his home. 

He was born April 1, 1929 in Eli, KY to Loren and Zella Smith McBeath.  He married Gena Belle Schott on September 14, 1952 in Reddick, IL, and she passed away May 21, 2013. 

Surviving are his children, Kurt (Debbie) McBeath of Mapleton, Lori Venovich of Tremont, and Cindy Gain of Peoria; one son-in-law, Marion Shields of Tremont; eight grandchildren, Cara Zuklin, Jayme West, Brooke Lanan, Blake McBeath, Jade Wagenbach, Ali Joos, Morgen Moulter and Luke Gain; five great grandchildren, Kori Dewitt, Mychael West, Paxton Couch, Remington and Kaia Wagenbach; four brothers, L.O. McBeath of Garden Grove, CA, Dean (Jan) McBeath of Shirley, Art (Donna) McBeath of Mason, OH, and Royce (Nancy) McBeath of Dwight; and one sister, Roberta Schultz of Elmhurst. 

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Shields. 

Elmer served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. 

He graduated from Olivet Nazarene College in 1956 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.  

Elmer worked as a Labor Relations Rep. for Caterpillar, Inc. for 36 years.  After retirement, he was hired back for six months working in Ireland. 

He was a member of Tremont United Methodist Church, Tremont Lion’s Club, and the American Legion. 

He enjoyed gardening, flowers, loved to play card, and was an avid reader. 

Cremation has been accorded.  A memorial service was held at 5:00 pm Friday, June 4, 2021 at Tremont United Methodist Church.  Pastor Larry Frank officiated.  Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:45 pm Friday at the church.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Tremont.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
