Vernon L. Lhamon

Vernon “Larry” Lhamon, 82, of Hopedale, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at his home. 

He was born March 5, 1939 in Bloomington to Vernon Boyd and Delphia Arlene Willard Lhamon.  He married Rebecca Sosamon on December 29, 1985 in Homosassa, Fl, and she survives. 

Also surviving are one son, Greg (Dedee) Lhamon of Waterloo, IL; one daughter, Traci (Steve) Lindhart of Tampa, FL; two stepsons, Nate Troyer of Asheville, NC and Brent Troyer of Little Rock, AR; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Rachel Lhamon, Rafe and Bree Lindhart, Austin Tosh, and Brody and Chance Troyer; and one brother, Lee Roy Lhamon of Sun City, AZ; and many nieces, nephew, cousins, and loved ones. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Michael. 

Larry served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962. 

He worked at Central Telephone Company in Pekin for several years,  owned and operated Court Street Liquors and Otmar’s Tavern in Pekin and the Cove in Hopedale for many years. He also worked at Velde Ford in Pekin. 

He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and a former board member of the Hopedale Fire and Rescue. He was a Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed bowling and golfing. 

His funeral was at 11:00 am Wednesday July 14, 2021 at Living Hope Community Church in Hopedale. Pastor Roger Springer and Frank Brozenec officiated. Burial was at Orndorff Cemetery with military honors accorded.
