Lawrence D. Nehmelman

Lawrence D. Nehmelman, 88, of Delavan, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at his home.

He was born February 9, 1933 in Easton to Adolph and Esther Jones Nehmelman. He married Doreen Holmes on November 11, 1950 in Delavan, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Terry L. (Jina) Nehmelman of Delavan; one daughter, Patsy (Mike) Winkler of Delavan; six grandchildren, Jesse Nehmelman, Jeremiah Nehmelman, Michelle Noreuil, Janina Lombardo, Jamie Eidenmiller, Jody Stewart and granddaughter in law, Rhonda Stewart;25 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Nehmelman of Danvers; one sister, LaVerne Minton of Delavan, and his brown lab, Brownie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Eidenmiller; one grandson, Gerry Stewart; his brothers, Donald, Harold, Ted, Adolph Jr, Ralph, and Ray.

Lawrence worked at Caterpillar Inc in Morton and East Peoria for 43 years and also farmed in the Delavan area.

He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and loved camping and traveling. He and his wife organized the farmers market in Delavan. He was a hands-on person and very mechanical.

Lawrence was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delavan, where a funeral mass was held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 14, 2021. Msgr Timothy Nolan officiated. Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan handled the arrangements.
