Donna J. Schlappi

Donna J. Schlappi, 92, of Mackinaw, passed away and went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.

She was born Dec. 16, 1928 in Delavan to Edward and Tena Wilts Hubbard.  She married Lorn Schlappi on February 18, 1951 in Pekin, and he passed away December 28, 2013.

Surviving are her children, Phyllis (Bill) Wiggins of Rockville, VA, Art “Rocko” (Jamie) Schlappi of Waynesboro, VA, and Roger (Lynne) Schlappi of Mackinaw; five grandchildren, Brock Wiggins, Marcy Reynal, Lindsay Deaver, Aaron Schlappi, Lauren Dawkins;12 great grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Deanna) Hubbard of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hubbard and Kathy Hubbard, both of Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gayle, James, and Dick; and three sisters, Frances Zehr, Laura Marie Larson, and Doris Hubbard.

Together, she and Lorn worked side by side on the family farm and she also worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Morton for 25 years. 

Donna had a great love for her Lord and was the last charter member of the New Castle Bible Church in Mackinaw, where she was an active and a faithful member.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a servants heart and cared deeply for others.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 2, 2021 at New Castle Bible Church in Mackinaw.  Pastors Kevin Sauder and Dennis Schlappi will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday, and one hour before the service, both at the church.  Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery in Mackinaw.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
