Darlene F. (Sassman) Buttry

PETERSBURG, IL – February 4, 2025

Darlene F. (nee Sassman) Buttry, 90, of Petersburg, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born on January 18, 1935, to Lorn and Bessie (nee Romans) Sassman in Quiver Township, Illinois. She married Lloyd Buttry, and they were together for 63 years.

Darlene enjoyed traveling, reading, and anything sparkly.

Darlene is survived by her children, Janet Buttry, Michael Buttry, Carol Boyer, Gene Buttry, and Linda Buttry; many grandchildren; and two siblings, Harold Sassman and Fannie Look. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Peggy Ball; and three siblings.

Cremation rites were accorded by Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Oakview Cemetery in Armington, Illinois.
