6.6k Run/Walk on Route 66

The 8th annual 6.6k Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, August 28th in McLean. This run/walk is sponsored by CORE of McLean, a nonprofit organization for the benefit of the community of McLean. The 6.6k on Route 66 will be a point-to-point run/walk that starts in Funks Grove, with a shuttle service provided from McLean to Funks Grove. The participants will then run or walk on Route 66 to the new park under the old water tower in McLean. The new park in McLean was funded by previous proceeds from the 6.6k on Route 66.

The 6.6k on Route 66 race will begin at 8 AM on historic Route 66 near the entrance to Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup. At the end of the 6.6k, or 4.1 miles, participants will be greeted at the finish line near the village square, at the new park with a t-shirt, “swag bag”, and free refreshments. There will also be a custom backdrop for participants to take photos at the park and post-race brunch items will be provided by the Dixie Restaurant in McLean. The best times in each age group will be given an award at the park as well. Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat will have adoptable dogs and puppies as well as a silent auction with great items donated to benefit their shelter. Lastly, you will be able to check out antique, classic, and new cars, trucks, and motorcycles at a cruise-in organized by Mid State Cruisers.

Registration for the 6.6k on Route 66 is now open. Online registration is available at https://runsignup.com/Race/IL/McLean/GetYour66onRoute66. There is also a form for mail in registration that can be found at https://mclean-il.com/documents/198/2021_6.6_Entry_Form.pdf. If you register before the day of the race, the fee is $40 and day-of registration is $50. This fee includes a t-shirt, a brunch ticket, $3 vouchers towards a food or drink purchase from the Country Aire Restaurant in Atlanta and Parkview Inn in Bloomington, a commemorative shot glass, and gifts from the race’s sponsors. The 6.6k on Route 66 has become a highly anticipated event and McLean’s community is excited for it again this year.
