Volunteers Needed for Upcoming “Mackinaw Fest”

The Mackinaw Mail sat down with organizers for the upcoming Mackinaw Fest to discuss plans currently in the works and the dire need for volunteers. Larry Morgan and Dustin Schmidgall  explained that crowd size at the event has been dwindling the last few years, while also acknowledging that Covid was a big part of that effect. In order to turn that around, something new needs to be tried.

Currently being discussed are Bingo games, a kids tractor pull, a bags tournament, a beer tent, and food vendors, among other ideas. However, the organizers biggest concern is having enough volunteers to man the assorted stands/events. “The goal is a larger turnout, but that doesn’t happen without the number of volunteers needed to get this off the ground in the first place,” Larry Morgan says.

The festival, tentatively named the “Mackinaw Fest”, is slated to occur July 16-19, 2022. If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer, you can reach out to organizers at mackinawfestival@gmail.com. There will also be an informational meeting on Thursday December 16th at 6:00 P.M. in the Town Hall building.

The Mackinaw Mail will continue to report on the latest developments.
