Raymond M. Wood

Raymond Mallon “Grandpa” Wood, 70, of Minier, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born June 20, 1951 in Lincoln to Henry R. “Tubby” and Joyce Connett Wood.  He married Terry Andrews on April 22, 1978 in Lincoln, she survives. 

Also surviving are his children, Patrick (Daniel’e) Rogers of Armington , Victor (Cynthia) Rogers of Green Valley , and Sunshine (Daniel) Merry of Hopedale; 10 grandchildren, Carissa Hall of Pekin, Brittney Merry of Peoria, Natasha (Eric) Rogers-Pfau of Armington , Ashley Merry of Peoria , Jared Hall of Green Valley , Austin Rogers of Medford, OR, Colton Curry of Brocton , Noah Rogers of Armington , Drake (Erika) Curry of El Dorado Springs, MO, and DJ Merry of Hopedale IL; 17 great grandchildren, Lily, Ember, Scarlet, Violet, Aniston, Chayton, Adalia, Wyn, Ah’Trina, Charlie, Marcus, Chance, Anton, Taysha, Anjalyah, Ayla, and Chanse. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Grandpa retired as a welder after working many years at DMI in Goodfield.  He enjoyed tinkering, spending time with his family, being Mr. Fix it and helping the family with all their projects. 

He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the 500,00 Mile Riding Club. 

His passion was baseball and was involved with the Olympia Progressive Baseball Association (OPBA) where he earned  his nickname, “Grandpa”.  At the age of 16 years old, he started growing a beard and no one has seen him without one since. A Passionate Harley rider since the age of 21, he loved to ride and did so for many years, until his health would not allow it.  

A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Minier is handling the arrangements. 

Memorials may be made to the family. 

The family wishes to give a special Thank you to Dr. Tarantino and Dr. Roberts with BCDI in Peoria for the many years of compassionate care and friendship.
