OHS Weekly Sports Recap

All winter sports at Olympia High School have officially come to a close. Starting within these coming weeks Olympia’s spring sports will startup, all of which include; softball, baseball, Boy’s and Girl’s Track and Field, and Girl’s Soccer.

Just this past week the IHSA held the wrestling state tournament for both boys and girls. Dylan Eimer, a freshman at Olympia High School, finished 4th in his weight class. Last week the Boy’s Basketball team pulled through in their first game of regionals with a 30-29 win against Tri-Valley. The boys were down in the last seconds 28-29 and Adam Swartzendruber scored a last-second basket that sent them to their second regional game where they faced Central Catholic. They fought hard throughout the game but ended up losing to Central Catholic 55-65, ending their 2021-2022 season.

The Girl’s Basketball team faced their end of the season on the 15th when they lost their first regional game against DeeMack. The girls had a great season though with a record of 21-11 overall and 6-4 in their conference. The Boy’s Swim team also faced their final meet this past week. On the 19th the team competed in the IHSA sectionals with no swimmers making it to state. Many of the athletes in these winter sports will now be transitioning into their spring sports as practices start up and games begin.
