Waynesville Mayor Paul Wiggins

Early in his term as Mayor, Paul Wiggins the Mayor of Waynesville, Illinois is excited to help and grow his community. Paul grew up in Oakley, IL and lived there until he graduated from High School & went to college. In 2002 Paul moved to Waynesville where he has lived ever since. Before taking over the position as Mayor, Paul served as the Village Trustee for several years.

When it came time for elections, Paul decided he wanted to take on the position to continue the great work of Waynesville’s previous Mayor. Paul stated in an interview that “our previous Mayor did an outstanding job for a very long time. [Paul] wanted to run for Mayor to continue to take care of a great community as [the previous Mayor] did.”

It is obvious through Paul’s responses to my interview questions that he loves his community and is going to do his best to serve them well in his time as Mayor. He described Waynesville as a “big family”. He is looking forward to improving the Village. Some of his future plans include to continue improving the Village’s stormwater drainage and updating the septic system. While he knows these are big projects, he feels as though through the small projects that have been implanted so far that improvements have and will continue to be made.

Paul would love to run again for Mayor but he still has a lot of time left in his term so who knows what could happen in the years to come. Outside of his work as Mayor, Paul works at Frontier Communications where he has worked for 21 years. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, boating, dirt track racing, fishing, and collecting classic cars. The citizens of Waynesville can feel safe knowing they have someone like Paul as their Mayor. He has a great love for the community and is actively working to improve the Village of Waynesville.
