Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat in McLean

Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat is an animal shelter and boarding facility in McLean, Illinois. Jean Ann Hert founded and now currently owns Ruby’s Rescue. The mission is to take in dogs from high kill shelters, make them healthy again, and then find the animal a wonderful and safe home. They also focus on giving the dogs plenty of exercise, socialization, and love while in a boarding facility or simply waiting for a new home.

Customers come from all of the region to bring home the dog of their dreams. Common areas of travel include Bloomington, Lincoln, and Springfield. Since Ruby’s Rescue is a small private facility, they request an appointment made prior to visiting. Ruby’s Rescue is also very open and willing to take more volunteers!

Alison Anderson, an adopter of two dogs from Ruby’s Rescue shares her experience with us. “Ruby’s Rescue means so much to our family. Our experience there was nothing short of awesome. Our puppies were very well taken care of and it started them onto a healthy life. One year later, they are farm dogs loved by everyone. They may be small, but they are mighty.” she explained. “We thought one dog could complete our family, but we were wrong. These two dogs are the final pieces to our puzzle. They complete us.”

On the website, you can find their Amazon Wishlist for toys, gifts, and supplies. There is also a place to make donations via PayPal. Call or email Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat to save a pet and give them a loving home or have your dog join the fun with basic boarding services. More information can be found on their website https://rubysrescueandretreat.org/ or Facebook. Phone number is 309-660-6790 and email Rescuejeanann@aol.com.
