RAVING REVIEW: KID FROM KWANG TUNG leaps onto the scene with a fusion of traditional martial arts and zany comedy, breaking away from the standard fare offered in the genre during this era. Under the direction of Hsia Hsu, this film is not just another addition to the Shaw Brothers' arsenal but a bold redefinition of the genre itself, blending gags with gravity-defying combat sequences.


We enter this tale on the grounds of a Qing dynasty rebellion; we meet He Jiayu and Wu Dezhi, two martial artists from rival clans who initially connect through playful rivalry rather than outright hostility. As depicted by Wong Yu and Chiang Kam, these characters quickly evolve from schoolyard pranksters into central figures in a burgeoning revolution led by their teacher, Mr. Zhang. The narrative escalates with the entrance of the film’s villain, Luo Yihu, whose mastery of martial arts and ruthless tactics poses a formidable challenge to our protagonists.
