IHSA Invites Governor to Next Meeting

The Illinois High School Association is inviting the governor or a designated representative to the next meeting of its board of directors. The hope is to bridge a gap between the governor’s position and that of the IHSA. Gov. J.B. Pritzker wants high school basketball pushed back to spring because of the coronavirus pandemic. The IHSA believes that games can be played in the traditional season with proper mitigations. The season starts Nov. 30, and the meeting is scheduled for Nov. 19, three days after the scheduled start of practices.

“The Board hopes to create a dialogue and build a more collaborative relationship with all the entities involved with developing sports policy in our state as everyone tries to navigate the myriad issues caused by the pandemic,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson in a news release after the board met Wednesday by video conference.
