Dr. Lawrence Rossi, Sr.

Founder’s Day at Hopedale Medical Complex

On Wednesday, March 2nd, HMC celebrated the birthday of founder, Dr. Lawrence Rossi, Sr.

On May 8, 1955, Dr. Lawrence J. Rossi, Sr. opened Hopedale Hospital with the help of hundreds of hardworking area farmers, generous local citizens, and volunteers.

Over a half-century later, Dr. Rossi’s dream lives on. Hopedale Hospital, which began with only 20 beds, has blossomed into Hopedale Medical Complex, a 200-bed continuum-of-care facility that includes the Hopedale Hospital, Nursing Home, Commons, Hopedale Wellness Center, Hopedale Pharmacy, and our Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Program. HMC is now staffed by over 300 dedicated employees and healthcare professionals.

The “Rossi Way” lives on today in HMC’s approach to providing outstanding physician-directed health, wellness, and residential services in a personal, private, family atmosphere.

Happy Birthday Dr. Lawrence Rossi, Sr.! Thank you for being a pioneer in rural healthcare throughout your career, so that HMC may better serve the community today.
