Happy Birthday, Atlanta
March 26, 1853 – The community of Xenia, Illinois in Logan County was incorporated. Because there already was a Xenia, the town was renamed in honor of Atlanta, Georgia in 1855. Today, the little town has one of the most attractive streetscapes on all of Route 66, with the historic Palms Grill Café, the giant “Tall Paul” and its octagonal library.
