Kids Free Day of Fun in Waynesville
To kick off the first day of spring break, the Waynesville Christian Church held a “Kids Free Day of Fun”.
The event was hugely successful, with 22 kids in attendance participating in a variety of fun activities.
Craft time was led by Linda Marvel. The crafts included making spring-themed snow-globes, decorating flower pots and planting flowers, and painting birdhouses. Linda was assisted by Rondy Craig, Kayla Craig, Cindy Stribling, Hunter Hardesty, and Payton Rich.
The musical activities were led by Cindy Stribling, which consisted of both song and dance, to include the fastest version of “Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes” this reporter has ever witnessed.
Kim West led story and game time. The stories of Daniel and the Lion’s Den, and Jonah and the Whale were covered.
Pastor Skeet Stribling was on-hand to assistance and operate the big screen viewing of “VeggieTales – Where’s God When I’m S-Scared?”, and an animated retelling of Jonah and the Whale.
The kids were split into two groups, one for the older kids, and one for the younger kids, to help manage the large crowd through all of the activities.
During the final craft project of painting birdhouses, a snack of cookies and juice pouches was enjoyed.
Scarlett Parks, one of the younger group of kids in attendance, was particularly fond of the M&M cookies that were offered.
While waiting for their parents to come for them, some of the kids enjoyed the 70 degree weather across the street at Gingerbread Park.
