Stanford Gears up for Another Grocery Bingo
The residents of Stanford are having an interesting event on April 13th. The 2nd month of Grocery Bingo will be at the Allin Township Community Building at 1 pm. Grocery Bingo is a new event dedicated to helping the senior residents of Stanford. It costs $2 to play with two Bingo cards. Grocery Bingo is unique, they play until everyone’s a winner! Whenever you win, you get to go up to the table full of groceries and take whatever you need, no questions asked. There are a variety of different grocery items available and suggestions for prizes for next time are encouraged by the participants.
Shirley Peek said, “I would not be able to pull this off without the help of my friends and family!” Her family and friends are the major supporters of monetary contributions. She would like to give thanks to everyone who has helped her along the way. Some items that have been given out are canned fruits and vegetables, bottled water, and canned soup. The Grocery Bingo is also open to any donations from the community!
Grocery Bingo is open to any Stanford, IL, resident 55 years or older. The next game is on April 13th at 1 pm, and it will always be the second Wednesday of the month afterward. It will be located at the Community Center in Stanford. There is a sign-up sheet at the post office. If you have any questions or would like to express interest in the event, call Shirley Peek at 309-379-3511.
Whenever I was talking to Shirley, I could truly see her care and interest in helping people in her community. She wants to be able to support local seniors just like her family supported her.
