WCC Youth Group ‘Soup Supper’ a Success
The Waynesville Christian Church Youth Group hosted a ‘Soup Supper’ on Saturday, October 23rd between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. A donation was requested with proceeds going towards the youth service project of purchasing and installing a new flagpole at Gingerbread Park.
The menu included ham and beans with cornbread, chili, vegetable soup, potato soup, and grilled cheese. A kid’s menu was also available of grilled cheese and chips. Water, iced tea, lemonade, and coffee were provided. And a dessert table containing a variety of sweet treats was also available to complete the meal.
Despite the popularity of the ham and beans, I took the advice of Brooke Cummings and Michaela Ekiss – the two youth group members who greeted me at the counter to take my order – and selected the chili and grilled cheese. Both were delicious.
The only thing better than enjoying a piping hot bowl of chili with a grilled cheese sandwich on a cool fall day was being able to enjoy the meal with this extraordinary group of young people. Their kindness, politeness, and smiles made the experience a truly enjoyable one.
