Carol A. Webb

Carol A. Webb, 80, of Tremont, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room in Peoria. 

She was born on October 4, 1941 in Elmhurst, Illinois to Herbert and Hazel (Stover) Hodges.  She graduated from Illinois State University in 1963 with her Bachelor of Science in Education.  She was first married to Al Crandall of Fostoria, Ohio, the father of her five sons.  She then married her husband, John Webb of Tremont on October 30, 1986 in Pekin, Illinois. 

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Hazel Hodges, and four siblings Rowena (Hodges) McCarty, John Hodges, Anita (Hodges) Harshbarger, and Chuck Hodges.  She is survived by her husband John Webb and her five sons Kevin (Rhonda) Crandall of Rochelle, Illinois, Arin (Deanna) Crandall of Cumming, Georgia, Kip (Nancy) Crandall of Oregon, Illinois, Shane Crandall of Pekin, Illinois, and Kyle (Krysta) Crandall of Cle Elum, Washington.  She also lovingly considered Hector Mauricio Santaella of Bogotá, Colombia her “number six son.”  Carol is also survived by her 13 grandchildren Mitchell (Stephanie) Crandall, Mackenzie (Brent Boardman) Crandall, Mallory Mershon, Noah Mershon, Catie (Jeremy) Kinard, Angela Crandall, Emma Crandall, Matthew Crandall, Zachary Crandall, Joshua Crandall, Luke Eisele, Pierce Crandall, and Grant Crandall; 4 step grandchildren Dallas, Dalton, Heavenly, and Devin Thompson; 1 great grandson Justice Samuel Kinard. 

Carol taught for many years at Dee-Mack Elementary and Intermediate schools, her career spanning across multiple grades.  She enjoyed drinking her coffee and watching nature outside of her kitchen window in the morning, rehabilitating orphaned animals, baking, and cooking for her family.  It brought her great joy to celebrate holidays and gather for the annual Tremont Turkey Festival with her family and friends. 

There will be a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont with a private, family service following officiated by David Uhlman. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Schools Libraries in honor of Carol.
