Dee-Mack Friday Night Football

Football fans couldn’t have asked for a better evening to watch a football game. Pork chops were on the grill as fans filed into the stadium. After a brief opening ceremony that included the Mackinaw JFL football teams, it was game time.

The first half started with the Chiefs kicking off. The Marquette Academy Crusaders were able to take advantage of their first possession and punch into the end zone for an early lead. The Chiefs first possession saw them steadily driving the ball down the field, resulting in a touchdown. The Crusaders were unable to make anything happen on the next possession and were forced to punt. After having an excellent punt return called back, Dee-Mack rallied and got into the end zone again. The Crusaders were again stopped, this time 2 yards short of the goal line. Unfortunately, when the Chiefs took control, a bad snap left our offense scrambling in the end zone, resulting in a touchback for the opposition and awarded them the next possession. The Crusaders scored on this possession, bringing the half to a close at 16-18.

The Chiefs took control of the ball to start the second half, which resulted in a touchdown. The Crusaders answered right back, however their 2-point conversion was stopped, resulting in a tied game. The game started heating up as both teams answered each other's touchdowns in a rapid-fire fashion. Tyce Albritton came through for the Dee-Mack defense and broke up a potential game winning pass late in the 4th quarter. This allowed the Chiefs to take possession with 1:45 left to play, where they ran out the clock for a Chiefs victory 40-36.

Scorers for the Chiefs were Brent Denniston, Tyce Albritton, and Lucas Blumeyer. Great game, guys!
