Barbara L. Potts
Barbara L. Potts, 92, formerly of Mackinaw, Illinois, entered into God's kingdom at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Henry Rehab and Nursing in Henry, Illinois.
Barbara was born in Joplin, Missouri, on December 15, 1930, and lived in Neosho, Missouri, with her parents, Bryan and Ollie Williams, and younger brother, George. After graduating from Neosho High School, she attended Drury College in Springfield, Missouri.
In June of 1951, Barbara married Carroll B. “Bud” Potts, and they were married for 62 years. Bud preceded her in death in August of 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Ollie Williams; brother, George Williams; and an infant grandson, Gregory Potts.
Surviving Barbara are her three children: G. Dennis Potts of Colona, Illinois, Carol (Michael) Clark of Chillicothe, Illinois, and Bryan Potts of Moline, Illinois; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
While living in Mackinaw, Illinois, for over 30 years, Barbara and Bud attended Mackinaw United Methodist Church, singing in the choir and also in a special singing group, “Joy Singers”. During the annual “Mack-A-Fest”, both loved to help at the Strawberry Shortcake booth. Another love of Barbara’s was being the second half of the Bud Potts Insurance Agency. She tirelessly and faithfully assisted Bud for many years running the business in Mackinaw. Upon moving to the Peoria area, Barbara and Bud were welcomed as members into the church family at Woodland Baptist Church of Peoria, Illinois.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family, and will be greatly missed and forever held in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Barbara at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Woodland Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior.
