Spices Recalled

Attention, home cooks! If you’ve recently purchased any Spice Hunter products, you may want to take a close look at the labels. The brand has recalled a list of spices and seasonings because of potential Salmonella contamination.

The recall was initiated after a supplier notified Sauer Brands, Inc. of the possible presence of Salmonella in specific lots of organic parsley provided to the spice maker. The company has recalled Organic Parsley products, as well as all other items which were in production at the same time—and the list is long! It includes: Black Pepper, Cayenne, Cilantro, Dill, Herbes de Provence, Gourmet Sesame Seeds, Italian Seasoning, Organic Cinnamon, Pumpkin Pie Spice, and more. You can find a full list of the recalled products here.

The spices come in glass jars, and they were sold at retail locations across 31 states, including: Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. They were also available for purchase directly from the brand on spicehunter.com.

So far, there have been no reports of illness related to this potential contamination. If you suspect you have one of the products from this list at home, you may return it to the point of purchase for a refund.
