HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes is a local 501c non-profit with the mission to give back to wounded soldiers. Four out of the five board members are Olympia graduates. To complete their mission HOOAH provides outdoor activities to these wounded soldiers. This includes events such as turkey hunts, fishing trips, deer hunts, and pheasant hunts. These activities are supervised by volunteers and every aspect is formatted to fit the needs of each soldier.

For each event hosted by HOOAH, the cost for transportation, lodging, license, tags, food, and equipment for the events is all covered. No experience in either hunting or fishing is required, and each soldier is paired up with a volunteer guide that leads them throughout the event. Everything you can think of is covered; the soldiers don’t have to worry about anything.

The aim of this organization is to create a place for these soldiers to heal mentally and physically through their ability to do activities they love again, and to connect with other soldiers who have gone through similar challenges. By the end of each hunt, HOOAH hopes that each soldier can leave with a new family to be able to call on in need. Whether this is the soldiers or the volunteers, HOOAH wants to allow the soldiers to create connections and help each other heal.

HOOAH provides these activities through charitable donations, either monetary or manufactured goods. They also provide support for these soldiers and their families even after each event. HOOAH wants to raise awareness for these soldiers and the mental and physical injuries they have.
