Danika Frazier

This week’s athlete of the week is Danika Frazier, a member of the class of 2024 at Olympia High School from Danvers, IL. Frazier plays softball, volleyball, basketball, and participates in key club and FCA. While she is a well-rounded athlete, Frazier excels in softball. She is a right-handed pitcher that also brought power to the Spartan’s lineup. This previous season, where the Spartan Softball team finished top 16 in the state, she had over 200 strikeouts in the circle and 11 home runs up to bat. Her 11 home runs led the Illini Prairie Conference in home runs. She was also the RBI leader.

Frazier stepped right into high school athletics and dominated her freshman year. She described that this wouldn’t have been possible without the welcoming culture of Olympia athletics. “When you show up for games or practice everyone is nice, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable. That is what I love about Olympia sports,” stated Frazier. She explained that the Olympia athletic community brings people together and teaches athletes lessons that will be important throughout the rest of your life. This first-year experience has left an impact on Frazier.  She wants to continue the welcoming and inclusive culture for younger players that will enter throughout her time in high school. “I want to leave an impact for others that no matter what role you play on a team you are a piece to their success. It takes everyone on the team to be successful, you win and lose together.” Frazier strives to win a state championship during her time at Olympia High School.

In softball this year, Frazier was the Illini Prairie Conference second team pitcher selection. Her awards didn’t stop there. She was also awarded all-state honors as a 2a second team pitcher. Frazier has put in countless hours of hard work and dedication to be successful. She is an athlete to keep on the radar throughout her next three years at Olympia. There is no doubt that she will have continued success and big opportunities athletically and academically in her future.
