RAVING REVIEW: This was one of the most innovative and unique “animated” films I’ve seen recently. DIPLODOCUS invites viewers on a visually stunning journey through the imaginative realms crafted by a lesser-known yet profoundly talented comic book artist, Ted (Piotr Polak.) This feature, directed by Wojtek Wawszczyk, stands out in the animated landscape for its inventive storytelling and dynamic visual style. Ted’s artistry is the foundation upon which the young dinosaur, Diplodocus (voiced by Mikołaj Wachowski,) seeks the truth behind their parents' mysterious disappearance, propelling the entire cast through a series of enchanting and sometimes perilous comic book worlds.

From the opening scenes, DIPLODOCUS promises an engaging escapade. The narrative embarks with Diplodocus, our daring dinosaur protagonist, whose journey is not merely a quest across diverse landscapes but a deeper exploration into the realms of self-belief and artistic inspiration. Their adventures are populated with a cast of characters as varied as they are vibrant, including a wise wizard named Hocus Pocus (voiced by Borys Szyc) and a duo of quirky scientists, Profesorek Nerwosolek (voiced by Arkadiusz Jakubik) and Entomologia (voiced by Małgorzata Kożuchowska.) These characters are not just companions but catalysts in Diplodocus’s evolution as a character, pushing toward personal growth and a greater understanding of their own story’s potential.

Viewers are treated to a seamless fusion of CG animation and live-action sequences as the narrative unfolds. This stylistic choice enhances the depth and texture of Ted's fantastical world. Presented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the film’s technical execution will receive praise for its innovative integration of different animation methods and bringing the timely mix of live action and animation to the next generation. This blend heightens the aesthetic appeal and metaphorically underscores the film’s central themes of merging imagination with tangible reality, exploring how artistic creation can influence and alter our perceptions.

The influence of Tadeusz Baranowski is palpable throughout the film. His iconic comics from 1980s Poland, known for their surreal humor and distinctive visual style, inspire the film’s core aesthetic. This connection provides nostalgia for those familiar with Baranowski's work while attracting new viewers with its refreshing and engaging visual approach. This allows the film to resonate with a broad audience of ages and backgrounds.

DIPLODOCUS also excels in its depiction of the character arcs. As Diplodocus and his allies navigate various challenges throughout their journeys, they confront not only external adversaries but also internal self-doubt, weaving a complex web of adventure and introspection. Their journey is a compelling blend of light-hearted exploration and profound life lessons, culminating in a narrative that champions the power of creativity and the importance of believing in oneself.

DIPLODOCUS has garnered significant attention on the international stage, securing distribution deals in over forty countries following its premiere at the Marché du Film. This early success highlights the film's global appeal and underscores its ability to captivate audiences with its universal themes of adventure, family bonds, and self-discovery. The widespread acclaim is a testament to the film's quality and potential to leave a lasting impact on viewers worldwide.

DIPLODOCUS is not just another entry in the animated genre but a standout piece that bridges artistic gaps and connects viewers across the globe. Its story is a heartfelt reminder of the impact of creativity and imagination, making it a source of inspiration and joy for audiences of all ages. The film’s ability to intertwine innovative techniques with a compelling narrative makes it an unforgettable experience destined to inspire audiences to embrace their creative instincts and to dream without boundaries.
