RAVING REVIEW: This journey is an investment that is well worth your time; there is no hiding the erotic nature of the film, but that is part of Lucía’s journey throughout the film.

While some may shy away from this movie because of the heavy dose of erotic content, I would ask that you still give it a chance if you don’t have solid reasoning. This is an age-specific film; this isn’t one to turn on during family movie night. At the same time, even the most graphic scenes were somehow done tastefully (if that makes sense.)

More than anything, the performance by Paz Vega (SPANGLISH, THE SPIRIT) was compelling and award-worthy. This is only her fourth feature film, and she put her all into the film, delivering a performance that will rip your emotions apart.

The film's plot can sometimes be confusing as Lucía learns so much at the same time the audience is. At times it almost feels like real-world pacing instead of a film you’re watching; while the two-hour runtime has its slower moments, generally speaking, the pacing makes the time fly by.

As I mentioned before, the erotic nature of the film won’t be for everyone; however, it’s vital to the heart of the story and shows the evolution of the characters throughout. There’s a massive difference between a film with scenes like that for no reason and entirely different for a film using them as a part of the story.

The film’s unique twist will leave you more intrigued than you would think. There is so much more than what is on the film's surface. We get beautiful cinematography with a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, wanting more, flowing through the narrative of the film and the characters. Never assume that you know what you know while watching the movie.
