Let me start by saying that this is a love letter to 70s horror films. It’s honestly one of the best modern-day examples that I’ve ever seen pay homage to the genre that it’s honoring. The film's synopsis is direct and to the point without giving you too much information “A telephone psychic is pulled into a complex web of mystery when she receives a call from a serial killer.”

A horror film full of practical effects and just the perfect amount of film grain and dust/dirt artifacts. As a whole, the only real knock I would have is that sometimes the dialogue took away from the fun gorefest. I wouldn’t say that the conversations were bad, but the kills were so well done that I just wanted more and more. I haven’t had the honor of seeing any of director Chad Ferrin’s other films; if you’re familiar with his work, definitely let me know if you have any suggestions.

There are no punches pulled here; we start with a grizzly murder to set the tone. It gives just the perfect amount of unease between the gallons of fake blood and the perfectly over-the-top sound effects of meat tearing. These murderers continue throughout, each time giving you everything you could want, along with multiple references to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.

With a fantastic cast of horror icons, we get Bai Ling (THE CROW,) Steve Railsback (ED GEIN,) Lew Temple (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS,) and KELLI MARONEY (NIGHT OF THE COMET,) and more coming together as almost a horror version of The Avengers. When I typed that, I initially questioned it, but honestly, The Avengers weren’t household names when they came out. They were the B-squad and became the A-squad. We don’t get Spider-Man here, but we get a cast full of Iron Man!
