A fantastic surprise: I wasn’t sure what path it would go down when I started the film. Initially, I thought it would take the same path as DASHCAM and be shot through a cellphone's lens. Thankfully that turned out not to be the case. Instead, the opening was just a tease at what Wes Dunlap, who plays Benny Jansen, does in his free time and sets up the entire film.

Most cast members are relatively unknown actors, with some TV roles and smaller films threw in. The most well-known for me was Marguerite Moreau (THE MIGHTY DUCKS, WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER), but surprisingly she was in a pretty minor role. The true standout was newcomer Lucy Urbano who took her role and crushed it. She was able to play the character to perfection and had me buying into her arc from start to finish.

I had a few issues with some of the more intense scenes in the film, a few cast members lost their way when things got heated, but as a whole, I was fully invested. Unfortunately, the story is more timely now than ever; it takes the NBC series TO CATCH A PREDATOR and amps everything up to 10. My only other issue was that it felt a bit messy at the end; many twists and elements were thrown in that was almost overwhelming.

I didn’t know what I was watching before watching it, so the storyline surprised me. I assumed it was just going to be a standard thriller, and was I wrong. Although honestly, that’s one of the reasons I try to go in blind as often as possible.

The film does contain violence and coarse language with adult themes throughout. However, that’s necessary to tell the story with the intensity needed. Those aspects take the film to the next level and make you feel like real stakes are involved.
