RAVING REVIEW: When the going gets tough, the tough go searching for a little spiritual breather. Enter Adriano and Gemma, your not-so-average duo, seeking an oasis from the modern-day hustle. Their search ends at the Egg Community, led by the enigmatic Guru Rajani. The centerpiece? A magnificent Golden Egg, casting a gentle glow on their meditation sessions and friendly feasts. (yep, seriously)

While Gemma dives headfirst, fitting in like the last piece of a puzzle, Adriano detours, soaking in the surroundings before getting his feet wet. Yet, as they say, when you're mapping out life, it often has other plans. As our protagonists feel like they are on cloud nine, a plot twist plummets them back to the ground, sending them spiraling through an emotional storm. This unforeseen twist doesn't just shake their world; it brings them face-to-face with life-altering realizations about love and impending parenthood.

THE YEAR OF THE EGG, delivering visually and in the sound department, big time. Proudly showcased by Venice Biennale, this film blends raw emotions and cinematic talent that even those who aren’t fans of artsy movies can appreciate. Sure, it sometimes swings for the aesthetic fences, possibly compromising on depth, but it's a treat for the senses.

Claudio Casale brings Adriano and Gemma's tale to life and highlights the essence of human connection – something fading faster than last season’s fashion in today’s digital whirlwind. Casale’s journey from Rome, sharpening his skills at places like the New York Film Academy to garnering attention at the 75th Venice International Film Festival, is nothing short of inspiring. THE YEAR OF THE EGG is his way of saying, "Documentaries and VR were fun, but let's go full-blown cinematic!"

THE YEAR OF THE EGG doesn’t just ask for your time; it invites you on a journey. It’s a cinematic voyage exploring the tangible hustle and bustle of our lives against deep-seated spiritual desires. The plot? I don’t know how to dive into it without giving away more than I should. That said, even though this wasn’t my favorite film of the year, it will have you pondering after the screen goes black.
