RAVING REVIEW: I wasn’t very familiar with Actress/Writer/Producer/Director Sarah Jones when starting this film, but I will never forget her after watching this. Known more for her work on Broadway than in cinema, Jones is a force to be reckoned with in her feature-length directorial debut.

The film is a recreation of Jones’ Broadway production, and now I’m sad that I haven’t been able to see the performance live. This is a film that isn’t afraid to put you face to face with topics that will make some uncomfortable, and I honestly feel like that makes this an experience everyone should watch. You can’t be afraid to confront your own world!

This film is filled with incredible performances by Jones, playing a list of characters that are different facets of the sex worker industry. She’s joined on screen but some other amazing dramatic and comedic actors, including Rosario Dawson (RENT, AHSOKA,) Ilana Glazer (BROAD CITY, ROUGH NIGHT,) and even Bryan Cranston (BREAKING BAD, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE.) We get taken on a personal yet painful journey through the eyes of the modern take on what people perceive the world of sex workers to be like.

While on the surface, this is a pretty straightforward journey, it’s the subtext of the story and the interactions between the different characters that create the more profound message here. One of the most important things you can do in this modern world is to question what you think you already know. It will make you a better person, not just take things at face value.

I’m interested to see what Jones does; next, I hope that this film can be a launching pad for her to tell other stories that are just as important. I support anyone who makes us look at our world differently.
