RAVING REVIEW: An essential look at a cinematic icon that worked in every genre, from adult to comedies, Horror, and more. Diving deep into the films that helped shape her career.
The book has a gorgeous hardcover binding with over 350 full-color enamel pages. The signed edition also includes the DVD, which came with the French edition, featuring a master class with Brigitte shot in Paris, fully subtitled in English, and other surprises.
While over half her career was adult-oriented, she covered the spectrum with 10% Detective/action thriller, 13% Comedy, 5% Drama, 7% Fantasy/horror, and 2% Documentary. She was anything but a one-trick pony when it came to her filmography.
Beginning in the 1970s with adult content, she quickly evolved past when producers and directors recognized there was far more to her—becoming a star in France and beyond. With more than 135 acting credits to her name, she explored every corner of cinema.
The book and the movie offer a deep dive into Lahaie's career and cinema. There is a heavy focus on adult content, as that was a large portion of her career. The book is created almost like a yearbook full of behind-the-scenes photos and more. Some may be a bit too much for some, but it's important because they don't shy away from covering her career the way it was, including many notes, scripts, etc., that show an unseen portion.
Most of the book and DVD documentary is filled with content many Americans wouldn't be comfortable with, but that's not the case all over the rest of the world. The stories alone and Lahaie’s journey through film history are invaluable. If you’re okay with the topics, this is a must-own for cinema collectors, in my opinion.
Being a graphic designer for 20+ years, I’ve also gained a level of appreciation for well-done page layouts. This book was very well done in every aspect; most of the stories, photos, and miscellaneous information gave a well-done look to the entire design.
