“This film is for people who liked the films INHERENT VICE, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, and the satirical buddy-cop movie Kung Fury,” said Andrew Burton. I wouldn’t say I disliked this, although there were moments that felt awkward. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan of INHERENT VICE and am lukewarm on the other two, so that explains my thoughts on this.
As a whole, I genuinely think anyone who enjoyed those films listed would probably enjoy the simple style of street-level humor in this one. A lot was going on in this one, so I suggest you pay close attention to the story. At the core, it’s pretty much just two unskilled detectives working to solve a case without a solution. Many other characters came into the story, which only complicated the story even further.
As I always say, please don’t take my thoughts as fact. While this wasn’t my cup of tea, it doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy it. Please never forget that film reviews are subjective, every person experiences films differently, and that’s my favorite part of cinema.
