RAVING REVIEW: CREEPSHOW: SEASON 4 arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital, marking a meaningful step forward in horror television. The series, a product of George A. Romero and Stephen King's original vision, masterfully combines a respectful nod to classic horror with a flair for innovative storytelling. This season, true to its roots, ventures boldly into new narrative territories, presenting tales as novel as nightmarish. I would dare to say that this is the series' best season so far!

Seasons 1-4 are now also available in a comprehensive Box set. Far from just a collection of episodes, this set has unique features like 'A Creepshow Animated Special.' This addition, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Joe King, breathes new life into the spine-chilling stories of Stephen King and Joe Hill, expanding the Creepshow universe in captivating ways.

The season premiere, "Grey Matter," is a testament to King's storytelling prowess, brilliantly reimagined for the screen. Adrienne Barbeau's performance here is a standout, adding depth and richness to the episode that sets the tone for the season. It's a season that juggles the legacy of traditional horror with fresh and engaging new stories.

The strength of CREEPSHOW: SEASON 4 lies in its rich tapestry of horror vignettes. Episodes like "Twenty Minutes with Cassandra" and "Smile" reinterpret classic horror themes surprisingly. The series boasts stellar performances, particularly from Samantha Sloyan and Frankie Francois, making each episode a riveting experience.

The season offers a diverse array of horror tales, ranging from virtual reality nightmares to encounters with the supernatural. It masterfully mixes horror and humor, creating an entertaining and immersive experience. "The Hat" is a shining example of the show's ability to merge inspiration with terror. However, some episodes like "Grieving Process" could have pushed the envelope further regarding originality; while still enjoyable, they didn’t hit the same high notes as others.

Despite a few predictable moments, the season upholds the high quality for which the series has been known. The injection of dark humor, especially in episodes like "Parent Death Trap" and "To Grandmother's House We Go," adds a refreshing twist to the horror genre.

CREEPSHOW: SEASON 4 also delves into social themes. "Meet the Balaskos" offers a modern take on vampire lore, tackling issues of prejudice. "Cheat Code" mixes real and virtual worlds in a father-son story that's intriguing and reminiscent of classic adventure tales.

The penultimate episodes, "Something Borrowed, Something Blue" and "Doodles," stand out for their creativity and strong performances, particularly by Tom Atkins. The use of comic art in "Doodles" is a clever narrative device that highlights the series' innovative storytelling.

The season concludes with "George Romero in 3D," a fitting tribute to Romero that cleverly combines zombies with augmented reality. However, "Baby Teeth," the season's final story, doesn't quite reach the same level, lacking the cohesive storytelling in earlier episodes.

CREEPSHOW: SEASON 4 solidifies its standing as a premier horror anthology series. The season offers a varied and engaging collection of stories, striking an ideal balance between reverence for classic horror and a willingness to embrace bold new narratives. This season is not just for horror buffs but for anyone who loves good storytelling as it continues to evolve, bringing fresh and thrilling experiences to the horror genre.
