Severin Films Announces ‘SANGSTER DIRECTS HAMMER’ 7-Disc UHD Box Set

Severin Films is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a major release aimed directly at horror collectors and Hammer fans: the SANGSTER DIRECTS HAMMER box set, arriving June 30, 2026.

The seven-disc collection brings together three of Jimmy Sangster’s directorial works for Hammer Films — THE HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN, LUST FOR A VAMPIRE, and FEAR IN THE NIGHT — all receiving their first-ever UHD releases in North America.

Each film has been scanned in 4K from the original camera negatives, and the set includes over 18 hours of newly produced and archival special features, covering everything from the literary roots of the material to the performers and legacy of Hammer itself.

Alongside the films, the release also includes a newly produced 312-page book, Horror! Lust! Fear! Sangster, featuring essays, archival interviews, and additional material that dives deeper into Sangster’s influence on the genre.

For those unfamiliar, Jimmy Sangster was one of the key creative forces behind Hammer’s rise, having written classics like THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, HORROR OF DRACULA, and THE MUMMY before stepping into the director’s chair in the 1970s. This set focuses specifically on that era, showcasing a different side of his work — one that leans into darker humor, psychological tension, and more experimental takes on familiar horror concepts.

The box set is currently available for pre-order and is expected to begin shipping around its June 30 release window.
