Rebuilding Paradise – 2020 (Documentary)
–
In 2018, the lives of thousands changed in the blink of an eye. The community of Paradise, California suffered terribly when mismanaged infrastructure from Pacific Gas and Electric Company sparked a fire that rapidly spread across a vast area of forest.
The devastation left behind changed people’s lives instantly and this documentary follows some of their journeys and their attempts to return to a form of normalcy. A film that is as heart-wrenching as it is heartwarming shows how incredible the human spirit truly is.
If you’re normally not a big fan of documentaries, this is the one for you. It’s easy to watch, as well as being pretty short. It makes you feel connected to the people as you watch their struggles and triumphs.
The continuing dangers of forest fires is a nonstop threat for millions across the western United States. While controlled burns help the threat, there aren’t likely any quick solutions to the larger issues. The power lines that sparked this fire were over 100 years old and although the cause of this issue, there are many others as well. In the famous words of Smokey Bear, “Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires!”

I feel like more people need to watch these types of docs. Because its a realy hardship that many face in these areas. And its an enviromental issue that isn’t going to just go away. Esepcially when you have people igniting more fires due to gender reveals.. grr.
