What an experience! When you look at these covers, you have no clue what you’re getting yourself into. These weren’t the year's best films, but they were fun. They’re surprisingly well made and have fun, maybe slightly flawed stories. The over-the-top acting, sets, and limited special effects create a unique film-watching experience. I loved watching them back to back; they made a different but visually similar story.
In the 80s, CONAN THE BARBARIAN set off a landslide of copycat films. Many were bland copies that didn’t add much depth to the genre. Thankfully these two had just enough comedy in them to almost make them a parody than a direct copy. There were two more Deathstalker films in the series, and I’m going to have to hunt those down as well, just for the pure completionist in me.
101 Films has this two-pack available for pre-order now. I must point out that the film's cover artwork is truly stunning. I love the over-the-top paintings; they are a unique style used by many of this genre. It lets fantastical images pop in a way that standard images never would.
Never be afraid to try new things, and never point your nose at watching a new genre or a style of film that you traditionally wouldn’t think you’d like. You may just be surprised when you get to experience something you enjoy that you didn’t know you would. I can speak from experience. Thankfully, reviewing films has allowed me to watch things I never would’ve done before.

I remember watching this with my dad, for the short period he was around, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. And especially for the age of the film. It definetly holds up.
