Easily one of the brightest and most enjoyable comedies of the year, directors Kate Beacom and Louis Legge bring almost 80 minutes of pure comic bliss to the screen. Now available for pre-order on iTunes, please go and support this incredible indie film that doesn’t feel like one at all. The excellent script, fantastic acting, and gorgeous cinematography make this feel like a big-budget film that anyone would enjoy.

Brilliant performances from all three of the leads, Lacey Jeka, Scott Mandel, and Alexandra Stebbins, make for a true spectacle that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I think sometimes filmmakers forget that movies are supposed to be enjoyable, but Beacom and their cast kept that as the primary focus.

I will often point out a gripe with the thriller/horror genre; if you’ve read my reviews in the past, you’ll know I’m not a fan of always “seeing the scary.” This is especially true in psychological films. Sometimes it's more effective to let your imagination fill in the blanks. My favorite example is in the film A QUIET PLACE; there was no reason to show the monster in that film. I was sufficiently into the story without seeing the STRANGER THINGS monster knock-off. This is even more prevalent in independent cinema; the best piece of advice I have ever heard for a filmmaker was “film within your means.” Creativity breeds better results, in my opinion, and this film is a perfect example of that. There were so many opportunities for cheesy scenes that could’ve taken me entirely out of the story; instead, we got some quick edits that saved the film.

The story for the film is an homage or possibly inspired by some of the more popular events in the early 2000s. I won’t spoil anything, but I couldn’t help and smile while watching the story unfold and seeing the parallels to some stories you’ll surely be familiar with.

Films like this are one of the reasons I’m so happy that I started reviewing movies, the hidden gems like this make everything worth it. Please, go out and support this fantastic cast and crew because I want, no, I NEED more of this story! I would love to see more of this team and where they could take everything. Pre-orders feed the algorithm on iTunes, so make sure to order today. www.rehabcabin.com

  1. Well now I am mad… I had not heard of this film yet. Loved the takes you provided. And will add to the list. Especially due to the tie in to the 2000s.
