This is a review primarily for The Wedding Pact 2 (aka The Baby Pact); however, being the type of person I am, I couldn’t just watch the second one without watching the first. That’s just something ingrained into my being; I’m a self-described “completionist.” Whether it’s collecting all of the Amityville movies (35+ and running) or having to watch every episode of a TV series (no matter if season three is the worst.) I prefer to experience the whole story, no matter if it’s good or bad.

In this case, I’m happy I checked out both films; neither is going to change the world but watching the first gave me a solid understanding of Haylie Duff’s character Elizabeth and what she had riding on the events of the second film. The most interesting aspect is that these are two very different movies. The first follows the classic teen comedy ala the movie ROAD TRIP, and it does so in a pretty by the numbers sort of way. The sequel takes a much darker turn and shows the eight-year time difference between the two films. Although in the film it’s only supposed to have been three years.

I found the story's conclusion to be better than what I had initially thought. While I believe the original was slightly better, I still appreciated the second. I think it took what the first delivered and upped the story in a way that also evolved with the character. I wasn’t sure how they would recover from the story's main plot, but they were able to and put a smile on my face in the end. I haven’t seen a lot of Haylie Duff, but after this, I’m curious to see more of her roles! I’m interested in what other parts she’s done that any of you may suggest; reach out and let me know.

I will always stick by films that let you enjoy watching them. To me, that’s the most essential part, and Matt Berman delivered on both. I didn’t feel like I lost time to either of these, I left both of them having enjoyed my experience, and that’s what I judged them on. If you’re going to give a film a poor review because it doesn’t meet specific technical achievements, that’s absolutely okay, but that’s why I’m here. But we get to enjoy films for different reasons, that’s why I will always stand by the love of cinema.
