Meet The Chelsea Detective in this original and gripping new crime-drama starring the inimitable Adrian Scarborough (Killing Eve, Gavin & Stacey, The King’s Speech, 1917), who was made for this leading role as DI Max Arnold, a down-to-earth, wily, and wise detective, with no shortage of crimes to solve in London’s beautiful – yet brutal – borough.
This Acorn TV Original drama delighted viewers and earned a legion of fans when it premiered on Acorn TV. Now, hot on the heels of a brand-new second season, The Chelsea Detective Series One is set to make its DVD and digital debut on 18 September 2023, courtesy of Acorn Media International.
After separating from his art dealer wife Astrid (Anamaria Marinca – Midsomer Murders, Fury), Max (Scarborough) lives on a houseboat on the River Thames in Chelsea, just yards from some of Europe’s most valuable real estate. The highly regarded borough is full of beautiful people, but it has a dark underside of deprivation, violence, greed – and murder. Bodies have a way of showing up, and things are rarely as they seem, but Max’s determination and knowledge of London’s streets mean he’ll find a way to root out the truth and bring those responsible to justice – regardless of their wealth or status.
Together with his trusty colleague, Streatham-born D.C. Priya Shamsie (Sonita Henry – Luther, Krypton), Max must investigate a slew of enthralling cases from the strange to the complex, including the death of a lonely stonemason on the London Underground, which, at first, seems like a real-life haunting; the peculiar disappearance of Robyn Romano, social media sensation and wife of high-profile restauranteur; the stabbing of a well-liked security guard which takes Max from the luxury homes of the super-rich to drug dealing street corners and the murder of a teacher at a prestigious international school.
For captivating crime in well-to-do West London, open your casebook for The Chelsea Detective Series One – an addictively good police procedural showcasing witty humor, charming characters, and spectacular sites.
