RAVING REVIEW: TRIM SEASON explores the depths of what it means to be horror. We follow a group of young adults hailing from Los Angeles visiting a secluded farm in Northern California. Their mission is straightforward: make quick money by trimming marijuana plants (easy enough.) However, they soon find themselves entwined in a scenario they never anticipated. Surrounded by a creepy forest and severed from the outside world, the group's sole choice is to beat the clock in a frantic race for survival.

This film will frighten far-right conservatives the most, as they take issue with anyone who isn’t a mirror image of themselves. I try to keep politics out of my reviews for the most part, but this film is filled with what scares them the most. While the film may have shortcomings, it hooks its audience with heart and offers something different for the genre. TRIM SEASON unabashedly spotlights marijuana, queer culture, trans characters, gay romances, and more. The shower scene epitomizes the film's unflinching approach to handling these themes. This fearless approach to the film makes it worth seeing, even if there are some hiccups throughout the film.

While the atmospheric and suspenseful elements cater to ardent horror fans, TRIM SEASON appeals to a broader range of viewers. From the outset, the film's opening act seizes the viewer's attention with its impressive visuals and no-nonsense horror themes. Although the narrative occasionally stumbles, possibly due to contributions from too many writers, the core plot maintains its grip on the audience.

TRIM SEASON leaves an indelible mark as a new horror film that fuses a diverse cast with a daring exploration of “taboo” subjects. The movie's bold disposition and unforgettable moments provide moviegoers with an enjoyable and exciting experience.

In summary, TRIM SEASON emerges as a distinct and provocative addition to the horror genre, unreservedly tackling the most important themes of today while making them a natural part of the story. While the plot may encounter occasional obstacles, the solid, engaging narrative ensures TRIM SEASON remains a must-watch for horror devotees.
